Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to create and manage a GeoChronicle account. Family-friendly presentation settings are intended to be selected and supervised by an adult or guardian.
Historical information
GeoChronicle aims to use reliable historical sources and clearly communicate uncertainty. History is interpretive and source material can be incomplete or disputed. Content is provided for education and exploration and should not be treated as professional, legal, medical, safety or navigation advice.
Exploring safely
You are responsible for your surroundings when using location, maps, trails, camera or augmented-reality features. Do not enter private property, restricted areas, unsafe terrain or locations that are not lawfully accessible. Obey local signs, laws and instructions. Do not use the app in a way that distracts you while driving or operating machinery.
Your account
Keep your sign-in credentials secure and provide accurate information. You are responsible for activity performed through your account. You may request account deletion from Settings → Account & Privacy in the app.
User contributions
If you submit collections, historical contributions, event information, expert commentary, organisation details or other content, you must have the right to submit it and must not knowingly provide unlawful, infringing, deceptive or harmful material. You retain ownership of your content while granting GeoChronicle the permissions reasonably necessary to store, process, display and operate it as part of the service.
Acceptable use
You must not misuse GeoChronicle, interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorised access, scrape or copy protected service data at scale, impersonate others, or use the service for unlawful activity.
Subscriptions and in-app purchase
GeoChronicle may offer auto-renewable Explorer subscriptions through Apple In-App Purchase on iPhone and Google Play Billing on Android. The price, billing period, trial or introductory offer and renewal terms shown in the relevant store purchase sheet are the terms that apply to your purchase. Payment is processed by Apple or Google, not directly by GeoChronicle.
Subscriptions renew according to the terms shown by the relevant store unless you cancel them through your Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings. Refunds and billing disputes are handled under the applicable store’s payment and refund processes. Deleting your GeoChronicle account does not automatically cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription, so cancel the subscription with the store separately if required.
Availability
We may change, improve, suspend or discontinue features. Offline packs, location results, external maps, source links and third-party services can be unavailable or incomplete at times.
Intellectual property
GeoChronicle software, branding, original presentation and service design are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Third-party historical images, maps, quotations and source materials remain subject to their respective rights and licences.
Liability and consumer rights
Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded. To the extent permitted by law, GeoChronicle is provided on an “as available” basis and we are not responsible for losses caused by relying on historical content as professional advice, ignoring access restrictions, or using the app unsafely.

Our handling of personal information is described in the GeoChronicle Privacy Policy.
Changes
We may update these terms as the service develops. Material changes will be reflected by changing the effective date and, where appropriate, providing notice in the app.
